Monsoon to arrive in India on May 31

The southwest monsoon is expected to make onset from Kerala around May 31, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday. The southwest monsoon normally sets in over Kerala on June 1 with a standard deviation of about 7 days, according to reports. This onset date serves as an indicator for the progression of the monsoon across the country.

A picture showing Slovakia Prime Minister Robert Fico after he was shot has surfaced online. The picture shows security officials carrying Fico inside a car. The 59-year-old was rushed to hospital in the central city of Handlova after holding a government meeting there, and was being transported by helicopter to the city of Banska Bystrica for urgent treatment.

Slovakia Prime Minister Robert Fico was injured as he was shot after a government meeting, Slovak Parliament's vice-chairman Lubos Blaha said. Pictures from the spot surfaced on social media, showing a man being detained by security officials. A witness told Reuters that he saw security officials pushing someone into a car and driving off.

Govt issues 1st set of citizenship certificates under CAA

The government has announced that the first set of citizenship certificates under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) has been issued. "Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla hands over citizenship certificates under CAA to first 14 people in New Delhi," the Ministry of Home Affairs stated. The Centre notified the CAA rules on March 11.

Instagram, Facebook down for users globally

Meta's Facebook and Instagram apps are not working for thousands of users worldwide, according to Downdetector. Live outage map by Downdetector showed Instagram was facing issues in Indian cities including Delhi, Patna, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai, among others. Some users reported seeing the error message, "Something went wrong. There's an issue and the page could not be loaded."
